چکیده
Amyloidosis is a rare disease with an incidence of approximately 6–10 cases per million person years. It is defined as tissue deposition of fibrils consisting of different types and weight of normal serum proteins’ subunits. Amyloidosis disease can involve different organs depending on the subtype. Amyloidosis frequently affects the heart, kidneys, gastrointestinal organs and nervous system. Amyloid heart disease is an uncommon involvement that can occur as part as systemic primary (AL) or secondary (AA) amyloidosis.

Successful Resolution with Apixaban of a Massive Left Atrial Appendage Thrombus Due to Nonrheumatic Atrial Fibrillation: A Case Report and Review
A 32-year-old woman with a past medical history of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, long QT syndrome, and implantation of an automatic iimplantable cardioverter-defibrillator (AICD) following cardiac arrest presented with disabling symptoms of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation due to recurrent AICD shocks. Before curative ablation, transesophageal echocardiography was performed to assess for existi...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effect of Inflammation on Atrial Fibrillation Occurrence by Measuring Highly Sensitive C-reactive Protein (hs-CRP)
Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmias that cardiologists and internists encounter. The goal of this article is to clarify an overview of the evidence linking inflammation to AF existence, which may highlight the effect of some pharmacological agents that have genuine potential to reduce the clinical burden of AF by modulating inflammatory pathways. Mat...
متن کاملSystemic Amyloidosis Masquerading as Intractable Cardiomyopathy.
INTRODUCTION Cardiac amyloidosis is an infiltrative cardiomyopathy in which amyloid protein is deposited throughout the myocardium. It is increasingly recognized as a cause of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in the elderly. Presenting symptoms include exercise intolerance, fatigue, angina, breathlessness and syncope or pre-syncope.1 Atrial fibrillation is the most common early ar...
متن کاملIntravenous Methylprednisolone, a Possible Cause of the Atrial Fibrillation
We are presenting a case illustrating atrial fibrillation (AF) following the use of methylprednisolone in a patient with pelvic and femur fracture. A 48- year- old man with no significant past medical history, was admitted to the emergency department after injury in a car accident. He suffered a multiple bone fracture with chief complaints of pain and shortness of breath. He was transfer...
متن کاملInitial Experience with A Novel Flexible-Tip Irrigated Ablation Catheter in a Case of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation.
AF ablation can be curative or reduce the symptoms of AF. However, success rates are suboptimal while procedure times can be long. Since AF ablation depends on excellent tip to tissue contact, ease of use and signal quality, a new ablation catheter (FlexAbilityTM Ablation Catheter, St Jude Medical, St Paul, MN) was designed for use during complex ablation. We report an initial case of its use d...
